The University of Bath Teacher Champion Awards

Celebrating inspiring professionals who champion students from UK state schools and colleges.

Celebrating School and College Professionals

Each year the University of Bath recognises and celebrates the important role teachers, advisers and support staff play in guiding students on their path to university. We’re especially keen to celebrate professionals who work within schools and communities where moving on to university isn’t always seen as a natural ‘next step’.

Each year we invite undergraduate students at Bath, along with all the current sixth form participants in University of Bath Widening Participation programmes to nominate a teacher for one of our awards. We love to read every single submission and it's heartening to see what an impact teachers and advisers have on their students.

Nominations for 2025 awards now open

Nominations are now open for the Teacher Champion Awards 2025. If you are an undergraduate student who went to a UK state school or college, you can nominate a school or college professional who helped you on your journey to Bath. This could be a teacher, careers adviser or pastoral support worker who went above and beyond to help you get to university. They may have inspired you with excellent subject teaching, given extra time to help you revise or helped you pastorally. However they helped you, this is the perfect way to say thank you. If you nominate, they could be invited to our awards ceremony, and you will be entered into a draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher. Nominations close on 8th December 2024. Nominate now using this short form.

Teacher Champion Awards 2024

On 3rd July, we held our 2024 Teacher Champion Awards Ceremony at our Bath campus as part of our annual Teacher and Adviser Conference. We were delighted to be joined by shortlisted teachers and some of their nominated students to celebrate their wonderful hard work and dedication to helping their students progress to Bath. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ian White, opened the awards and announced each of the winners of the five categories. The winners were presented with a trophy and all guests were invited to stay for a fizz and canape reception to celebrate. Congratulations to all winners and all shortlisted for the awards this year. You can find more details about the winners from the event below.
