The University of Bath Teacher Champion Awards

Celebrating inspiring professionals who champion students from UK state schools and colleges.

Celebrating School and College Teachers

Each year the University of Bath recognises and celebrates the important role teachers, advisors and support staff play in guiding students on their path to university. We’re especially keen to celebrate professionals who work within schools and communities where moving on to university isn’t always seen as a natural ‘next step’.

Each year we invite undergraduate students at Bath, along with all the current sixth form participants in University of Bath Widening Participation programmes to nominate a teacher for one of our awards. We love to read every single submission and it's heartening to see what an impact teachers have on their students.

Congratulations to our 2023 winners

On 7th July 2023, we held our 2023 Teacher Champion Awards Ceremony at our Bath campus. We were delighted to be joined by shortlisted teachers and some of their nominated students to celebrate their wonderful hard work and dedication to helping their students progress to Bath. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ian White, opened the awards and announced each of the winners of the five categories. The winners were presented with a trophy and all shortlisted teachers were given a Bath goody bag as a token of our appreciation. The announcing of the winners was followed by a fizz and canape reception to celebrate. Congratulations to all winners and all shortlisted for the awards this year. You can find more details about the winners and pictures from the event below.

2024 Nominations

2024 nominations have now closed.

Following the closing date our panel of judges will select a shortlist from the nominees. Shortlisted teachers will be invited to join us at an on-campus awards reception in July with fully subsidised accommodation for themselves and a guest of their choice. They also receive an automatic place on our highly successful Teacher Champion Programme including a free attendance at our Teacher and Adviser Conference 2024. Even if you are not nominated for an award, you can also apply for a place on the Teacher Champion Programme if you are a UK state school or college teacher or education professional. For more information and how to apply, visit this page.
