Join us in June 2025 for our flagship annual events: the Doctoral Research Celebration Evening and the Doctoral Festival of Ideas.
Doctoral Research Celebration Evening
The Doctoral College will be hosting the annual Doctoral Research Celebration Evening on Wednesday 11 June 2025 at Komedia, Bath to celebrate the achievements of doctoral researchers and staff within the University community.
This event brings together: - The University's Three Minute Thesis Final - Presentation of various student and staff awards, e.g. Doctoral Recognition Awards, Excellence in Doctoral Supervision Prizes and the Godfrey and Sue Hall Postgraduate Research Prize.
The Doctoral College invites over 100 attendees each year and we have approximately 50 open tickets available for both doctoral researchers and staff within the University. Open tickets will be released in May 2025.

Doctoral Festival of Ideas
The Doctoral College, in collaboration with the Faculties and School, will be hosting the 2nd Doctoral Festival of Ideas between Tuesday 17 June and Wednesday 18 June 2025.
During the festival you can expect to see a programme of activities to help raise the profile of research being undertaken by our doctoral researchers, as well as sessions that will help make us all think about the impact of our research.
The full programme will be released in April 2025.

Get involved
We have loads of opportunities for you as doctoral researchers to get involved:
- Enter the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition condensing your research into a single slide presenting for just 3 minutes.
- Submit a poster for the Doctoral Festival of Ideas and get a £10 voucher for your submission.
- Give a 10-minute talk about your research and receive a £25 voucher.
- Enter the Bake Your Doctorate competition, creating something that represents your research. We'll provide funding for ingredients.
- Do some stand up comedy through our stand up comedy development programme. At the end, you'll take part in a comedy show open to the public, this promises to be a unique experience.
