There are three main elements of funding for Doctoral Research:
- Tuition fees
- The cost of research, sometimes called the training support fund (TSF). This amount varies by discipline and project and should be discussed with your potential supervisor
- Stipend, which is to cover your living costs and personal expenses
Scholarships can provide funds for all or just some of these costs, so please ensure you understand what the scholarship is covering before applying or accepting.
When considering funding you should also consider any costs associated with moving to Bath, e.g. relocation expenses and, if you require a visa to study in the UK, visa fees and the immigration health surcharge (IHS). The majority of scholarships do not cover these costs.
If you are an international student, you should also note that, in order to be considered for the majority of our studentships, you must have met the English language requirement for the programme before the application deadline (unless otherwise stated). Please check the English language requirement webpage to ensure you meet requirements before you apply.
