Getting ready to come to University

Confirm your arrival time

New students will move into University accommodation over six days, from Thursday 17 and Tuesday 22 September 2020.

To make moving in easier, we'll allocate you a scheduled time to arrive on campus and send this to the email address you gave when you applied for accommodation. If you haven't received the email by mid-September, contact the Student Accommodation team.

Please remember to book your arrival time, and print your parking permit. This will allow you to park your car for 30 minutes while you unpack your things.

Your library card

Your library card is your official proof of ID on campus. You can use it to get into buildings and buy food and drink at the University.

Before you leave home, you need to register online and upload a photo of yourself for your library card. We will then be able to create your card so it's ready for you to use when you get here.

This is especially important if you are in accommodation with Eat and Drink credit. You will not be able to use your credit, or get your 10% discount at food outlets, until you have your library card.

What to bring, what not to bring

We recommend that you bring a minimal amount of belongings. When you arrive, you will be the only person allowed to enter the building, so make sure you can carry all of your belongings on your own.

Before packing your bags, look at our list of things to bring with you. You should also read our list of things you are not allowed to bring.

If you are coming from overseas, you can send your belongings to the University for collection when you arrive.

Planning your journey

Bath is a small and busy city with two universities. The roads around town and the campus will be busy over arrivals weekend, so allow time for delays. Contact the Student Accommodation team if you're going to miss your scheduled arrival time.

The name of the car park you must use will be on your parking permit. If you're using sat nav, make sure you use the correct postcode so you are directed to the right entrance.

East Car Park

Use postcode BA2 7PA (GPS coordinates: Latitude 51.3794 Longitude -2.3231)

West Car Park

Use postcode BA2 7AY (GPS coordinates: Latitude 51.37972 Longitude -2.33290)

Your arrival day

When to arrive

You will have an allotted time to arrive on campus and a key collection point, depending on your accommodation building.

You must confirm your arrival time in advance.

Parking on campus

You will be able to print your parking permit when you have confirmed your arrival time. Make sure your permit is on your car's dashboard when you get to the campus entrance.

Staff will then direct you to an allocated car park.

Collecting your keys and library card

Before you unpack your car, get your keys and library card from the appropriate collection point.

The key collection points are marquees located in East car park and West car park. You can drive up to the marquee to pick up your key without having to leave your vehicle.

Ask a member of staff or one of our student ambassadors if you need help getting there.

Early or late arrival

During the moving in period

Key collection centres will be open from 8.30am, 17 to 22 September.

If you arrive earlier than this, contact the Security team on +44 (0)1225 385349 who can help you collect your keys.

After the moving in period

If you arrive on or after Wednesday 23 September 2020, you will need to collect your keys from the East Accommodation Centre.
