Research with Impact PhD Scholarships
This prestigious scholarship programme is funded through the generosity of notable donors and allows the PhD students to work in areas such as sustainability; health and wellbeing; and digital.
Funding Available
Each scholarship provides funding for up to four years. This includes:
- Tuition fees at the home rate
- Training support fund of £5000 each year (2024/25)
- Maintenance Stipend at the UKRI minimum rate
If you are an international student and in receipt of this scholarship, you will receive a fee waiver on top of your scholarship. Find out more about your tuition fee status.
Additional funds for childcare can be considered as part of the scholarship. If these funds are required, please state so in your application and the Doctoral College will contact you if you are successful in receiving an offer. Any request for childcare funds will not be considered as part of the selection process.
Eligibility
These scholarships are intended to support academically excellent applicants, so you must also meet our minimum academic entry requirements of a UK undergraduate degree 2:1 or higher, or international equivalent, and be able to meet the English language entry requirement before your start date.
Some of the scholarships have specific requirements, which will be detailed in application details of that scholarship.
How to Apply
These scholarships will be advertised from November each year. Each project has its own application deadline, so please follow the detailed instructions provided on the advert.
For PhDs starting in the 2024/25 Academic year, we have the following scholarships available:
- The Ko PhD Scholarship supporting research on future energy systems
- The Hughes PhD Scholarships supporting research on Sustainability
- The Sir Julian Horn-Smith Scholarship supporting research in Management
- The Norland PhD Scholarship supporting research on Infant and Toddler Development
- The David Parkin Scholarship supporting candidates from the Americas
