The Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarships are open to overseas PhD fee-paying students who can demonstrate excellence in academic achievement.

The University will offer a total of 40 scholarships per annum for each Faculty/School, up to a total of 160 new PhD students each year.

How to apply

Applicants may apply by identifying their individual doctoral programme and then clicking on the APPLY NOW button.

In the 'Funding your studies' section of the application form, applicants must select Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship from the drop-down menu. In the free text box in this section, applicants must confirm that they have sufficient funds to cover the fees for the whole period of registration as well as to cover their living costs. We recommend the following text be used:

“I wish to be considered for a Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship. I understand that if I am awarded this scholarship, I will be charged a tuition fee of £11,300 for the 2024/25 academic year. I understand that this fee may increase annually by up to 5% each year for every further year of study, for up to 3.5 years. I confirm that I have sufficient funds to cover these fees and my living costs through the whole period of registration for the programme.”

Applicants must satisfy all visa and immigration requirements.
