John Wood Student Accommodation

John Wood accommodation is a vibrant student hub located in the heart of Bath.

Welcome to John Wood


Home to 273 undergraduates, John Wood is made of two parts, John Wood Building, and John Wood Court. In the centre is a shared garden and terrace, with easy access into the John Wood ResLife hub, where you will find the Reslife team behind reception, games rooms, lounges, study spaces, community kitchen and much more.

John Wood offers a vibrant city-centre location close to cafés, shops, and entertainment. Students share a communal kitchen and bathroom facilities.

A bus stop is just minutes away, with the U1 bus reaching campus in about 20 minutes.

For safety and support, John Wood has secure swipe card access, a dedicated operations team, and an on-site reception where John Wood and Carpenter House residents can connect with the ResLife Team.

John Wood Building

Rooms in John Wood Building cost between £176 and £221 per week. There are 79 rooms in John Wood Building. An ensuite room costs between £218 and £221 per week, and a standard room costs between £176 and £184.

John Wood Court

Rooms in John Wood Court cost between £93 and £239 per week. There are 188 rooms in John Wood Court, 180 are standard rooms.

Standard rooms have:

Each double flat has:

John Wood Building

The majority of en suite bedrooms in John Wood Building have a double bed. There are 10 rooms with a single bed.

En suite bedrooms have:

  • standard 140cm x 183cm double bed
  • your own en-suite shower, toilet and washbasin

Standard bedrooms have:

  • standard 91cm x 183cm single bed

All rooms have:

  • a large communal kitchen shared with your flatmates

Room numbers

John Wood Court is made up of six buildings with four floors. Each floor has one or two flats, with up to six rooms each.

Your room details contain your block, floor, flat and room number. For example, the room number KD3.2.3 means you are located in John Wood Court, block D, third floor, flat two, room three.

John Wood Building is one block with four floors and 29 bedrooms on each.

Your room details contain your building, floor and room number. For example, the room number J4.05 means you are located in John Wood Building, fourth floor, room five.

There are small double beds in all ensuite rooms and also lift access across most of the building.

John Wood social and study space

Residents of John Wood and Carpenter House get access to the new social hub and study space.


John Wood social space

This is the central hub for John Wood and Carpenter House residents and are open for use every day from 8am to 11pm.

The dedicated space ensures a quiet, comfortable place to study, but also has plenty of opportunities for socialising.

‘In all of these flats there's a maximum of maybe five people so it's much easier to keep the kitchen clean... it's a more tight knit community, which I really like.’
