About this accommodation

The Quads is a complex of five buildings, each with shared flats for eight to ten people. It is home to 708 first year undergraduates.

Living here means you'll have Eat and Drink credit to spend on food and drink in any University-run places to eat, to save you always having to cook meals.

It is on the east side of campus, a five-minute walk to the Library and Students' Union.

The accommodation is located next to the popular lime tree food court, which serves a varied menu all day.

To make you feel safe and at home, The Quads has a secure living environment, with swipe card access to the buildings, flats and bedrooms. There's also secure bike storage.

Each kitchen in Quads includes a washing machine for your household to use. You can also use the [launderette] facilities (/guides/using-the-laundry/) located between Acer and Bay blocks.

You'll have your own en-suite shower, toilet and sink, mood lighting in your bedroom and use of a communal social space.

The Quads featured in the 2017 top 50 student accommodation halls in the UK by Times Higher Education, as well as being listed in StudentCrowd's Best UK Student Accommodation Awards 2019.

All of our University accommodation is smoke free.

Rooms in The Quads cost between £196 and £198 per week. There are 708 rooms in The Quads with 697 en-suite rooms priced at £196.

Living in The Quads you have £25 a week Eat and Drink credit charged on top of your weekly rent, which buys you at least one meal a day. Eat and drink credit is charged for 33 weeks of the 38 week contract.

Couples accommodation

A double bedroom costs £250 a week.

The bedrooms in The Quads give you everything you need to work, relax and rest.

  • standard 91cm x 183cm single bed with reading light
  • your own en-suite shower, toilet and sink
  • mattress protector
  • desk, chair and drawers
  • high-speed Wi-Fi and ethernet so you can always be connected
  • plenty of storage for your belongings, with a built-in wardrobe and bookshelves
  • colour changing mood lighting
  • screen with HDMI connectivity (check if you need a TV licence)

The Quads have one bedroom flats, for couples only. These have:

  • standard 140cm x 183cm double bed
  • mattress protector
  • desk, chair and drawers
  • your own en-suite shower, toilet and sink
  • your own kitchen
  • high-speed Wi-Fi and ethernet so you can always be connected
  • plenty of storage for your belongings, with a built-in wardrobe and bookshelves

Each floor has a large communal kitchen, perfect for cooking food and socialising with your flatmates.

The Quads have communal lounges, each shared by two flats, so you can relax and socialise with your flatmates.

Room numbers

The Quads accommodation is made up of five buildings:

  • Acer (A)
  • Bay (B)
  • Chestnut (C)
  • Damson (D)
  • Ebony (E)

Each has between 18 and 43 bedrooms on four to six floors.

Your room details contain your building, floor and room number.

For example, the room number QC3.05 means you are located in Quads Chestnut, third floor, room five.

Accommodation for students with disabilities

If you have a disability, there are two ground floor rooms in The Quads designed to meet your needs.

The rooms have adapted en-suite wet rooms that include a shower seat and grab rails for both the toilet and shower.

We can make further adaptations to rooms if necessary.

You are responsible for keeping your rooms clean and tidy.

Hall Representatives

At the start of the academic year you can elect a Hall Representative.

The Students’ Union supports Hall Representatives to organise social and community-building events.

Hall Representatives collect student feedback about living in the accommodation. They discuss this with the University and the Students’ Union to make sure your voices are heard.

Student Living Assistants

Settling into your new home at University, building relationships, cooking meals and cleaning with your housemates can be daunting, but your Student Living Assistants are here to help.

The Student Living Assistants are friendly faces to help out with any queries or concerns you may have, as well as running social activities and making sure you're aware of the latest events and updates.

They regularly check-in with you and your flatmates via Microsoft Teams calls. If you need help or advice with life in halls, you can schedule a one-to-one call with a Student Living Assistant at any time by contacting livingsupport@bath.ac.uk.
