Choosing Bath for postgraduate study
I chose to study an MSc in Finance at the University of Bath's School of Management because of its stellar reputation. Bath's curriculum and focus on real-world application were key factors that drew me to the course. Another major factor in my decision was the internship; a practical alternative to a dissertation.
For my internship, I worked as a Credit Risk Analyst at Anheuser-Busch InBev. It was a fulfilling experience that gave me hands-on experience. It also led to a permanent role as an Investment Analyst after I graduate.
The MSc in Finance course gave me a solid understanding of finance and credit risk fundamentals. This has been invaluable in my role in credit risk analysis. The curriculum covered essential topics like risk management, financial analysis and credit assessment. The seminars and assignments provided hands-on experience. This helped during the technical aspects of my job interview. These experiences enhanced my ability to manage client relationships and complete credit risk assessments at work.
Applying for the role
The application process for my current role was exceptionally smooth and efficient. I progressed from the initial screening to the final interview in 20 days. The support I received from the School of Management MSc Careers team was outstanding. They guided me through every step of the journey. From fine-tuning my applications to navigating the visa process, they made sure I was well-prepared for each stage.
They also helped me to get Turing funding so I could focus on my career transition. Thanks to their support and expertise, I secured a position that has been pivotal in shaping my professional path.
Facing challenges while studying
One of the biggest challenges I faced was managing my coursework while job hunting. From the beginning of the course, I was determined to gain international exposure. I knew it would boost my CV and enhance my prospects of getting a permanent role in a competitive global market. This ambition led me to explore job opportunities across the UK and Europe.
But this process quickly became overwhelming, so I took advantage of the guidance offered by the School's Careers team. Their support went far beyond basic career tips. They gave me advice on crafting standout applications and acing interviews to set me apart in the job market.
Experiencing Bath as an international student

Everywhere you turn, from the iconic Royal Crescent to the historic Roman Baths, the city exudes a sense of grandeur. It blends a rich history, stunning architecture and a vibrant cultural scene that made my time there feel magical.
Academically, the University provided the perfect environment for growth and success. From the moment I arrived, I felt embraced by a diverse and vibrant community. The resources available to students—whether academic, career-related or personal—were exceptional. But it wasn't just about the academic side. My personal life flourished as well. The University creates a welcoming and supportive environment that truly helps you thrive.
My time there was deeply fulfilling, and I couldn’t have asked for a more enriching experience.
