Employability support for every future goal

An undergraduate degree is about more than gaining academic knowledge. At Bath, we'll prepare you for the world of work, no matter what you want to achieve.

From day one at the School of Management, you’ll have access to lots of opportunities to develop the skills, confidence and experience employers value most.

Our graduates go on to:

  • work in many different industries, in companies of all sizes
  • become entrepreneurs, and start their own businesses
  • further study, like postgraduate courses or our MBA

Whether you choose a three-year course, or a four-year course with a work placement, you'll graduate prepared for the future.

Learn by doing

In your very first week, you can take part in our Big Team Challenge. Working alongside other students, you’ll tackle a real business problem set by an employer and present your ideas back to them.

For example, you might be asked to design a way to use AI to make the University more sustainable, or develop a plan to launch a new product or service for a company. You'll get a hands-on, high-energy introduction to collaborative working, creative thinking and presenting.

Gain insights from employers

You’ll regularly engage with employers who bring their industry knowledge directly to you.

Throughout your time with us, you'll be able to attend sessions led by organisations from different industries. These might include:

  • company presentations and insights into different sectors
  • networking opportunities with recruiters and professionals
  • skills workshops, covering topics like interview preparation or industry trends

These sessions help you understand what employers are looking for and how you can stand out in the application process.

Develop your professional skills

As part of your timetable, you’ll take part in the Professional Development Programme (PDP). These sessions are designed to prepare you for recruitment processes and the workplace.

You can develop key skills like:

  • writing effective CVs and cover letters
  • performing confidently in interviews and assessment centres
  • commercial awareness
  • networking and personal branding
  • delivering impactful presentations
  • professionalism in the workplace
  • understanding different industries

These sessions are delivered by our Employability Team, the University’s careers network and placement employers. They’ll give you practical advice you can apply to your job or placement search straight away.

Practise and build your confidence

Take part in mock interviews with real employers, either on campus or virtually. This is your chance to practise in a realistic setting, receive personalised feedback, and build your confidence before applying for internships, placements or graduate roles.

Develop your language skills

You'll have the opportunity to gain globally-recognised qualifications while improving your language skills.

Available languages:

  • Arabic
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Mandarin Chinese
  • Spanish

These courses are extracurricular and will not count towards your chosen degree.

Work placements

If you choose one of our four-year courses, you'll receive support from your Placement Officer who can help you to find and apply for a work placement.

Placements let you put your studies into action in a real job while learning about a particular industry.
