When to use the Free text block component
Use the Free text block component to add a short amount of text to a Campaign page.
Things to avoid
If you have a lot of text, don't put it all into a Free text block component. It will be clearer and easier to read if you separate it into different Text and image blocks with appropriate headings.
If you need to add a heading, summary, or image with your text, use a Text and image block.
Creating accessible content
You must make sure your content is accessible.
As a public sector body, we're legally required to make the content on our website as accessible as possible. The government checks our content to make sure it complies with the internationally recognised guidelines from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Find out more about accessibility or contact beta-content@bath.ac.uk if you have any questions.
Finding the Free text block component
To find the component:
- Open the drop-down menu under 'Drag and drop components'.
- Select 'Free text block'.
- Select 'Add component'.
The Free text block component will appear beneath 'Component(s) currently in use'.
You can only add one Free text block component to a page.
Adding content to the Free text block component
Add your text to the 'Text' field.
You can use up to 2,000 characters including Markdown formatting and spaces.
You can type directly into the content fields or copy and paste text from somewhere else, like a Word document.
Moving your content around the page
You can drag and drop the Free text block to reorder the components on a page.
Click 'Collapse this section' to minimise a Free text block component while you work on other areas of the page. The component will still appear on the preview and published pages if you collapse part of the template.
