When to use the Related guides component
Use the Related guides component to create a list of links at the end of a page to help people find other relevant guidance on the University website.
You can only use the Related guides component:
- on a Guide page
- to link to other Guide pages
Creating accessible content
You must make sure your content is accessible.
As a public sector body, we're legally required to make the content on our website as accessible as possible. The government checks our content to make sure it complies with the internationally recognised guidelines from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

What a Related guides component looks like
The Related guides component will appear below the main copy for the guide. Related guides are an unordered (bulleted) list and include the title and link of the related guide.
Guides included in the Related guides component will update automatically if their title and URL change.
Finding the Related guides component
To find the component in a Guide template in Typecase:
- Open the drop-down menu under 'Bottom of page fixed-position components'.
- Select 'Related guides'.
- Select 'Add component'.
The Related guides component will appear beneath 'Component(s) currently in use'.
Adding content to the Related guides component
You can add links to up to six published Guide pages using the Related guides component.
To add a link:
- Add a section heading to the 'Title' field to let users know what the Guides are about.
- Type the title of the Guide you want into the search field.
- Click on a title to select a Guide.
The selected Guides will appear in a list below the search box. You can drag and drop each Guide to change the order they appear in the Related guides section.
Things to avoid
Don't create a Related guides section if you can link to further guidance at a relevant place in the main content of your page. It's easier for people if they find links while reading your guidance, rather than in a list at the end of the page.
Working in the template
Click 'Collapse this section' to minimise the Related guides component while you work on other areas of the page. The content will still appear on the preview and published pages if you collapse part of the template.
