Accounting and Finance MSc Welcome Week timetable

During Welcome Week 2026 you must attend department and central Welcome Week events which will help you settle into University life.

Timetable


Arrivals Weekend is from Friday 18 September to Sunday 20 September 2026.

Welcome Week runs from Monday 21 September to Friday 25 September 2026.

University Life

You must attend a University Life session taking place over arrivals weekend. Find your University Life time slot. It’s important that you attend this.

Your timetable

Please check this page regularly as sometimes we need to change the times and locations of Welcome events. During Welcome Week, we would recommend you check your timetable at the start of each day.

Sunday 20 September

Start Finish Location Description
11.00am 12.30pm Founders' Hall Postgraduate Mixer (optional activity)- meet other postgraduate students at this friendly social, from your course of study or a different course of study. There will be icebreaker activities and Students' Union (SU) Staff, officers and Freshers’ Week Captains to help you make the most of this opportunity. This event is unticketed and free so turn up when you like within the time advertised.
4.00pm 5.00pm The Edge Lecture Theatre Living in a New Culture (LINC) Information Session (for new International students). If you missed any of the online sessions or want to hear the information again, then join this in-person catch-up. Topics will include finances, safety and welfare, academia in the UK, healthcare, student life in Bath and the Students’ Union. Book to attend this session (optional activity).
5.00pm 6.00pm The Edge Living in a New Culture (LINC) student mixer (for new International students). Meet other international students and enjoy free snacks and refreshments. Book to attend this session (optional activity).

Monday 21 September

12.30pm 1.15pm 10 East 2.55 (Incepta Lab) PGT Buddy Scheme Launch event (optional activity) - Our PGT Buddy Scheme, run with the Students' Union, will help you connect with other new students on your course and transition into University life in Bath. If you wish to attend this launch event, and meet some 'buddies', please complete our PGT Buddy registration form.
7.00pm 10.00pm The Edge Event space The Postgraduate Quiz (Students' Union optional activity)- Test your knowledge and compete in teams to win The Postgraduate Quiz! £2 entry fee on the door.

Tuesday 22 September

10.00am 11.00am 10 East 0.08 Introduction to MSc & Meet your classmates - led by your Student Experience Officer you will check in to your MSc course, meet your new coursemates, and take part in interactive activities that will help you make connections and settle into the School community.
11.15am 12.00pm Departing from outside 10 East Campus tour (optional activity) - Join a small group of MSc students on a Student Ambassador led guided Tour of 10 East and campus.
12.00pm 1.30pm 10 East Pavilion Welcome to the School Networking Fair and Reception - your official welcome from Professor Stephen Brammer, the Dean of the School of Management. Also an opportunity to meet and connect with staff from University Student Support and the Students' Union.
6.45pm 11.00pm Meet at Bath Abbey Postgraduate Pub and Bar Tour (Students' Union optional activity)- Get to know Bath’s fantastic Pubs and Bars within a fun and engaging tour! This event is ticketed and open to Postgraduates only. Tickets for sale online from Wednesday 2 September.

Wednesday 23 September

10.15am 12.05pm 10 East 0.17 Director of Studies Welcome Talk - meet your Director of Studies (DoS) and receive an overview of your course content, structure and expectations. This is also a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the course.
12.15pm 1.05pm 10 East 0.17 Semester 3 Internship Talk - an introduction to the opportunities and support available if you are thinking of undertaking an internship in Semester 3
1.15pm 3.05pm Founders' Hall The Students' Union (SU) Sports Fair (optional activity). Use this free time to meet the sports clubs and teams and find out how to join.
3.15pm 4.05pm 10 East 0.17 Introduction to the Library- This session is delivered by our School of Management Librarian and will give you a short introduction to the Library Service.
7.30pm 10.30pm The Edge Events Space Postgraduate Wine and Cheese (Students' Union optional activity)- Enjoy some beautiful cheese and aromatic wine alongside your fellow postgraduates! This event is ticketed and open to Postgraduates only. Tickets for sale online from Wednesday 2 September.

Thursday 24 September

10.15am 11.05am 10 East 0.17 Strategies for Academic success- Develop the skills and strategies needed to succeed in your MSc Course. From managing your time and academic work to understanding expectations at postgraduate level, this session will help you feel prepared for the year ahead and show you where to access support when you need it.
11.05am 12.05pm The Parade The Students' Union (SU) Groups Fair (optional activity). Use this free time to meet over 100 Student Groups including societies, volunteering, media, and diversity and support groups.
12.15pm 1.05pm 10 East 0.17 Getting Started on Your MSc- Led by your Student Experience Officer and Programme Support this session will cover key information including timetabling, accessing Moodle and opportunities to get involved this year.
1.15pm 2.05pm 10 East 0.17 Careers and Employability Support-Meet your Careers Advisor and find out about employability support during your MSc, including timelines for making the most of your year in Bath.
3.00pm 4.00pm The Parade The Students’ Union (SU) Groups Fair (optional activity). Use this free time to meet over 100 Student Groups including societies, volunteering, media, and diversity and support groups. This is an optional activity
4.05pm 6.00pm The Plug Postgraduate Boardgames and Biscuits (Students' Union optional activity)- Enjoy both modern and classic boardgames with a biscuit to bond over! This is a free event but bring your student card with you.

Friday 25 September

10.15am 1.05pm 10 East 0.17 Careers in Finance -Delivered by ZISHI, a global leader in tech-powered financial training, this is a deep dive into the Finance industry and your career options.
1.15pm 2.00pm Founders' Hall The Students’ Union (SU) Freshers Fair (optional activity). The one with all the freebies! Use your free time to explore what's on offer at The SU, the University, locally in Bath as well as connect with national brands. This is an optional activity.
2.15pm 5.05pm 10 East 0.17 Careers in Finance -Delivered by ZISHI, a global leader in tech-powered financial training, this is a deep dive into the Finance industry and your career options.
7.00pm 10.00pm The Edge Theatre Secret Cinema (Students' Union optional activity)- Led and ran by the amazing Bath University Film Society, experience watching a film you've never seen before or rewatch an absolute classic alongside like-minded people. This is a free event but ticketed. Tickets available online from Wednesday 2 September.

Saturday 26 September

Start Finish Location Description
12.30pm 2.00pm Meet at Parade Gardens, BA2 4DF Postgraduate Picnic (Students' Union optional activity)- Check out this scenic garden landscape as you enjoy good food and even better company! This is a free event with no ticket required- please bring your student card and your own food and drink.

Occasionally, there may be a scheduling clash between your departmental activities and The SU events during Freshers' Week. However, many SU events are repeated or run over several days, giving you the flexibility to attend at a different time.

Freshers' Week

The Students' Union also runs optional Freshers' Week activities you might be interested in, including a specific Postgraduate programme of Freshers’ Week events.
