Welcome Week
Congratulations on receiving an offer to study one of our MSc courses. We have a programme of events to welcome you to the School of Management and Bath. This programme will help you learn more about your course and make friends. We look forward to meeting you.
Welcome Week checklist (September onwards):
- complete your registration and enrolment
- if you are new to living in the UK, attend our Living in a New Culture events (LINC) (1-20 September)
- check your Welcome Week Timetable
- connect with other students on your course by downloading Microsoft Teams
- connect your phone and computer to the University's Wi-Fi
- check your University email
- register with the University Medical Centre
- open a UK bank account
- get support if you have a disability
- information for new taught postgraduate students

Welcome events
Welcome to the School Networking Fair
Tuesday 22 September 2026
All MSc students should attend the networking fair. This welcome fair with key staff will look at expectations and cover key messages for the year ahead. This is also an opportunity to meet and connect with our MSc team, staff from University services and the Students Union
Introduction to MSc and Meet Your Classmates
At this session you will meet your classmates and check in to your MSc course.
You will need to scan a QR code to check in to your MSc course. You will need to do this before Monday 12 October 2026. We will confirm details of the QR code in September 2026.

Director of Studies Welcome Talk
A session to meet: - your Director of Studies - your Student Experience Officer - MSc Team Programme Support - your new course mates.
You will receive an overview of your course content, structure and expectations for the year. This is also a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the course.
Internship Talk
If you have the option of an Internship on the MSc, this session is an introduction to the internship opportunities and support available this year. Not all courses will have an internship option.
The table shows you the Semester 3 options available on our MSc courses. You will be required to choose one 30 credit unit for your MSc as your Semester 3 option. We will provide more information on how to select your unit options in Semester 1.

Opportunities to get involved during your course
There are lots of opportunities available to you during your MSc. Getting involved in extracurricular activities enhances your experiences, enriches your CV and helps you get the most out of your degree. Some activities may vary depending on availability and health and safety risk assessment.

Course support
Your Director of Studies is your Academic Advisor and your first point of contact for academic advice.
Your Student Experience Officer is available for welfare support and advice.
The MSc Office provides course support and can be contacted for anything to do with your MSc. You will meet the team during Welcome Week.
All members of the Course Support Team provide guidance and support your personal development, academic progress and welfare.
Your career
Graduate recruiters often target Bath students. As part of your course you'll take part in lots of career activities – both timetabled and optional.
It's important to start thinking about your job search as soon as possible, as some graduate opportunities will have deadlines soon after you start your course.
Careers Support
All School of Management MSc students have timetabled careers workshops. These prepare you for job search and applications in the UK and globally. We have a range of online resources, and you will also discuss your career goals and applications with your careers advisor.
Careers timeline
Semester 1
Your timetabled careers workshops start in week 1. These sessions are practical and give tips on:
- Internship and job search in the UK and internationally
- CVs
- cover letters
- interviews
- psychometric tests
- assessment centres
Throughout these workshops we will discuss ways you can enhance and demonstrate your employability.
There will be many activities you can sign up for including:
- Industry Insights, where our graduates return to give advice on working in different sectors
- meetings with a careers advisor to discuss your career goals and applications
- support to pass psychometric tests
- mock interviews and assessment centres
- company presentations and workshops
- Careers Fair (October)
Inter-semester break (25 January 2027 to 29 January 2027)
80 students will be selected to take part in our Future Business Challenge. During the week you will hear from guest speakers, companies and work in teams to analyse what makes a company resilient and sustainable.
Semester 2 (starts 1 February 2027)
Support with applications continues for roles in the UK and globally. In Semester 2 students on most courses will engage with companies. You’ll be able to hear how what you are learning in the classroom is put into practice in the world of work. We also run some optional, team consulting projects with start ups and local organisations.
