The University offers 24/7 support year-round. This page lists additional services, tools and local and national services you can access right away to get the help you need.
Immediate support
If you, or the person you are with, need immediate support on campus, contact Security on 01225 383999 (available 24/7).
If you, or the person you are with, need immediate support off campus, call 999 for emergency services.
You can also use the Safezone App to contact the Security team in an emergency.
Be Well - Talk Now
You can contact our Be Well - Talk Now service which provides free, confidential advice and support by phone from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. An adviser will guide you through any issues you may currently be facing which are impacting on your mental health and wellbeing.
Student Space
If you find it easier to text than talk, you can text SHOUT to 85258. This is a confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service. Student Space is a national university support site which provides a range of great resources including a web messaging service.

- Be Well App: The Be Well app has resources for wellbeing that you can access at any time.
- Blackbullion: This resource will help you learn to manage your finances. If you are worried about money this will allow you to take some immediate action.
Other support services
- Breathing Space: If you're looking for a physical space for support during weekends and evenings, Bath Mind’s Breathing Space is available at Beauford House, 8-9 Princes Street, Bath, BA1 1HL, open every day from 6pm to 10:30pm. The team offers compassionate, non-clinical assistance for individuals experiencing emotional distress. To visit, please call their Freephone number 0808 175 1369 or email breathingspace@bathmind.org.uk before 5pm on the day you wish to attend. A team member will contact you between 5:30pm and 6pm to complete a referral and schedule a specific time slot for your visit.
- NHS 111 Mental Health Support: If you're feeling overwhelmed, you can call the NHS 111 helpline and choose Option 2 to be connected to a mental health professional who can provide a telephone assessment.
- Local NHS Mental Health Services: If you're in crisis, please keep this number in your phone: 0800 953 1919. This is our local mental health service, available 24/7.
- Samaritans: If you need someone to talk to, Samaritans are always available. Call 116 123.
- Papyrus Hopeline: If you're experiencing suicidal thoughts, please contact Papyrus’ Hopeline anytime at 0800 068 4141. This is a safe space to talk about anything affecting your ability to stay safe. You can also use their webchat support on their website.
