Bus Pass Loan Scheme

Interest free loan scheme for Bath Bursary or Gold Scholarship recipients to buy a Uni-Year Bath Fare Zone bus pass

The Bus Pass Loan Scheme is to assist Home UK Undergraduate Bath Bursary and Gold Scholarship recipients living in the Bath area, including on-campus University accommodation to purchase a Uni-Year Bath Fare Zone Bus Pass.

This is a pilot scheme to understand student demand and demonstrate to the university that such a scheme may be feasible for roll out to a wider group of students. Your timely repayment of the loan will be important to ensure the scheme continues beyond the initial pilot period.

Who can apply

Any registered Home UK Undergraduate Bath Bursary and Gold Scholarship recipient may apply to the Bus Pass Loan Scheme.

The maximum loan available to cover the cost of an annual Bath bus pass is £485.

The loan is to cover the full cost of a Uni-Year Bath Fare Zone bus pass, and partial loans cannot be offered.

How to apply

The deadline to apply for the Bus Pass Loan Scheme is closed for this academic year.

Repaying the Bus Pass Loan

The Bus Pass Loan is interest free and is repayable in 6 instalments over the year.

  • 5 instalments from 7 November to the 6 March of £80
  • 1 instalment on 22 April of £85

The loan repayments dates are as follows:

  • 7 November 2025
  • 3 December 2025
  • 5 January 2026
  • 11 February 2026
  • 6 March 2026
  • 22 April 2026

Please Note: Any missed loan repayments will be reclaimed via your Bath Bursary or Gold Scholarship instalments whichever is applicable. Full terms and conditions are available by contacting Student Money Advice.
