Located in Wessex House room 5.24, in the centre of campus, the rest room contains an ergonomically supportive armchair and footrest, and benefits from natural light. The room is accessible via lift and is available during weekday office hours 9am to 5pm.
The room may be particularly helpful for students who live off campus and do not have easy access to a private space to rest during the day.
How the Rest Room can be used
You can use the Rest Room for:
- resting to help manage pain, fatigue or other symptoms
- using a comfortable and ergonomically supportive chair
- carrying out medical procedures in private
- privacy to undertake physiotherapy routines
Access to the Rest Room
To request access to the Rest Room, contact the Disability Service. We can discuss your needs and any other study or access adjustments that may be helpful.
If access is approved, you will be provided with a keycode so that you can use the room independently.
The room is not staffed. We recommend that anyone using the room installs the SafeZone app so they can quickly request assistance from Security in an emergency.
As the room cannot be booked and may be in use when you arrive, we ask all users to be considerate of others and only use the space for as long as needed.
Other wellbeing and quiet spaces on campus

- Woodland Lounge neuroinclusive study and social space
- the Welfare Room, for new or expectant mothers (available via Safety, Health and Employee Wellbeing)
