The terms and conditions for Bath Go, the app for food and drink outlets on campus.

Terms And Conditions

The Bath Go Scheme is operated by The University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath, BA2 7AY, Registered Number 000644 (“we”). 

These Terms and Conditions apply to your participation in, and use of, the features on offer by the Bath Go Scheme at participating campus services and retail outlets (“Outlets”).

The Bath Go Scheme enables you to use the Bath Go App (the “App”), the Bath GO Website (the “Website”), registered to your personal account (“Account”), to pay for goods and services (including the collection and redemption of loyalty points and applicable promotional vouchers (“Vouchers”)) at participating Outlets.

Use of the App or other features of the Bath Go Scheme will constitute acceptance of these Terms and Conditions which, together with our Privacy Notice, govern our relationship with you in relation to the Bath Go Scheme. 

You must be aged 16 or over to participate in the Bath Go Scheme. 

Getting a BathGo card or app

As an employee or student of the University of Bath or other eligible user, you may download the App which enables you to participate in the Bath Go Scheme whereby you can pay for and collect loyalty points on purchases made at the Outlets, and may also benefit from Vouchers. 

Only one Bath Go account is permitted per user. If we identify that you are holding two or more Bath Go accounts, we may merge them into one account at our discretion.

We retain the right to remove or suspend your account, vouchers or points accrued if we determine you have been abusing the scheme or associated offers.

The app 

The App is free of charge and can be downloaded from your usual app provider. Certain mobile devices may not support the App, in which case you will not be able to use it. You will need to register your mobile device against your Account before the App can be used. You can use the App to create a new Account or you can register the App against your existing Account. If you change mobile device, you will need to log into your account on the new device on the App/Website before being able to access your information. The App is only available with an internet connection and all charges incurred during your use of the App are subject to your agreed terms and conditions with your internet or mobile provider. 

Where you choose or are provided with a user identification code, username and/or password, you should treat this information as confidential. Each registration is for a single user only. We reserve the right to disable any identification or password, chosen or allocated, at any time, if in our reasonable opinion we believe you have failed to comply with these terms and conditions. You are responsible for the security of any passwords issued to you. 

The App may be suspended temporarily or permanently and without notice in case of system failure, maintenance, or repair or for other reasons beyond our control. We reserve the right to make changes to the App from time to time, to include the removal, modification and/or variation of any elements, features or functions of the App. 

Other than personal information covered under our Privacy Notice/Policy, any material you post to the App (where this is possible) shall not be confidential. We shall be free to copy, disclose, distribute, incorporate and otherwise use any material and data, images, sounds, test and other material embodied in the posting or upload for any purpose. You must not post any material on the App that is threatening, offensive, discriminatory, blasphemous, in breach of confidence or privacy or any material that could cause any harm to the App through the use of viruses, logic bombs, malicious software, worms or any similar technical misuse of the App. Any misuse shall be disclosed to law enforcement authorities at our discretion. 

Important points to note in relation to your app

You may delete your App at any time but if you do so, you may forfeit the right to any points that have accumulated on your Account that have not been used. We may ask you to delete the App in accordance with our instructions. 

If your smartphone with the App is lost or stolen, you must notify us of this via the email address set out below in paragraph 5 (General). We will not be liable for any resulting loss of points or Vouchers. 

We reserve the right to refuse to redeem any points or Vouchers where the device has (or the balance of points has or is suspected to have) been acquired via theft, fraud or any other means that are not in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

Your loyalty points

Loyalty points can be accrued and redeemed against certain purchases made at the Outlets. We reserve the right to restrict the products against which loyalty points may be redeemed at our discretion. Please ask a member of the staff at the Outlets for more information. The points will be earned at the time of purchase, provided the App is presented at the point of sale. If you forget your device with the App we cannot add points to your Account at a later date. Points will accrue on the entire transaction (provided no excluded items are being purchased). Points can only be collected against purchases where a till and card reader is present. An Account can hold an unlimited number of loyalty points. You can check how many points you have and redeem points at an Outlet. You can also check the number of loyalty points you have collected by visiting the App and/or the Website. You will earn a specific number of loyalty points for each complete pound (£1) spent. We may, however, change the number of points you can collect and will display notices at the Outlets, should that happen. You will only be able to redeem your loyalty points against purchases made at the Outlets, each point has a redemption value of 1 pence (1p). The number of points used will be deducted from your Account. If you have a query regarding the number of points on your Account, we may require you to provide receipts as proof of purchase to back up any claim. If the evidence is satisfactory (to us), we will change the points allocated to the applicable Account to reflect the correct position. We will not exchange points for cash and reserve the right to remove from your Account any points that have not been redeemed for over 12 months. We retain the right to cancel, withdraw or alter the loyalty point scheme at any time.

The BathGO Loyalty scheme is for personal use only. Business use is strictly prohibited, and we reserve the right at point of purchase or retrospectively to determine what constitutes a business use.


When you have eligible vouchers you will be able to redeem them with a purchase by requesting to do so from a member of staff or redeeming them at self-service till points. You can set vouchers to be automatically redeemed with the next eligible purchase via the app. Expired vouchers will be removed from your account and you will be notified when you have received new ones in line with your notification settings.

Vouchers are nonrefundable and nontransferable. We will not exchange vouchers or other discount codes for cash and reserve the right to withdraw vouchers and discounts at any time.

Cashless system

Your App may also be used for the Bath Go Cashless System. To use the App for the Cashless System, the App will need to be activated for this purpose prior to use by visiting the Website. The Bath Go purse can be topped up online by visiting the Website or navigating through the App. You can check your balance online via your Account or at the Outlet. There is also the ability to auto top up your Account from a nominated credit or debit card. You can choose the minimum and top up values on your Account, and the nominated credit or debit card will be charged automatically back to the top up value when the balance on your Account falls below the minimum value. The transaction total will be deducted from the balance on your Account. By using the Cashless System, you will still automatically accrue loyalty points on your Account on valid purchases made.

You can cancel your Cashless Account by emailing However, if you do so, you will forfeit any remaining monies on your Card where your balance is less than £10. If your balance is over £10, please contact us at for a refund. Please note that refunds will be subject to a £10 administration fee which will be deducted from the remaining balance on your Card. Please note this does not apply to any other wallets/purses available within the Bath Go app and they are subject to their own Terms and Conditions – see here for separate T&Cs for Eat & Drink.


We retain the right to cancel or withdraw the App and/or the Bath Go Loyalty Scheme for any reason at any time. In such circumstances, we will endeavor to provide you with as much written notice as possible. We may also change these Terms and Conditions as is necessary by updating them on our Website. You should therefore check the Website from time to time to review these Terms and Conditions, because they are binding on you. Any graphics, artwork, information, trademarks, audio or video (the “Intellectual Property”) are either our property or licensed to us by a third party. You may only use the Intellectual Property for your personal non-commercial use, unless you otherwise have our prior written approval. We shall not be responsible or held liable for any default or event arising directly or indirectly from any cause or event beyond our control. To the extent permitted by law, but excluding liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or misrepresentation, we will not be liable for any amount or kind of loss or damage that may result to you or a third party (including without limitation, any direct, indirect, punitive or consequential loss or damages, or any loss of income, profits, goodwill, data, contracts, use of money, or loss or damages arising from or connected in any way to business interruption, and whether in tort, contract or otherwise) in connection with the App, Website or the Bath Go Scheme, including but not limited to loss or damage due to viruses that may infect your computer equipment, software, data or other property on account of your access to, use of, or browsing the App, the Website or otherwise connected with the Bath Go Scheme. To the extent that we may be liable, our aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the amount directly paid by you to participate in the Bath Go Scheme. We do not accept any responsibility for any errors or omissions on the App and/or the Website and we may make changes to the App and/or the Website in our sole discretion. In particular, we do not represent or warrant that the App and/or the Website will be error free, free of defects or harmful components, or that defects will be corrected. Where the words "we", "us" or "our" are used in this document, they are all references to The University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath, BA2 7AY, Registered Number 000644.  

We treat your information very carefully and we have written this document to help you understand what information we collect, who has access to it and for what purposes.  

If you are creating an account with us, or have already done so, you should read this document in connection with our Terms & Conditions.

We summarise below:

  • the types of information about you that we might process;
  • how and why we process it;
  • who we share it with;
  • how long we process it for;
  • your rights in relation to the information we hold about you; and
  • what to do if you have any questions or complaints.

You can withdraw your consent to us processing your information by closing your account or by emailing  However, we may have other lawful grounds for processing your information (for example, to comply with our statutory or regulatory duties or the orders of a court).

We encourage you to read the remainder of this policy to understand more about how your information is used.

  1. How do we collect information about you?

We collect information about you when you access our website, register to open an account with us, use our app or services, make transactions using our app or services and when you contact us.

  1. What information do we collect?

We may process the following types of information about you:

(a) information that may be used to identify you - this might include your title, name, postcode, email address, mobile phone number, date of birth and any other data you use to set up your account, to log-in or to use our services.

(b) information about how you transact using our app or services - this might include the goods or services you purchase, the rewards and gifts you earn and redeem (and when and where you do so), the transaction ID, the price paid or discount given, the location and time of the transaction; it might also include information about prize draws and promotions you participate in and your preferences including language preferences, notification settings and favourite outlets;

(c) network, hardware and website - information that we obtain from your device or browser when you connect to the website or use our app (such as IP address, operating system and device identifiers). This also includes the use of cookies which we may place on your browser or device to help collect this information or improve your experience on our website. For more information on cookies, please see our university Cookie Policy.

(d) payment information - small amounts of information about your payment card (the last four and first four digits of the card number, the card type and the expiry date); and

(e) surveys - information that you have opted to provide to us in response to customer research and satisfaction surveys.

 3. What do we use your information for?

We use your information:

(a) to provide our services, including:

processing and managing your application for and use of our services and participation in any reward or offer programmes;

processing transactions that you initiate using our services;

communicating with you about your orders or purchases, our services, your account with us and to provide support where you contact us;

communicating with you about any prize draw, reward or offer programmes you participate in using our services;

recommending things we think you’ll like such as nearby outlets (where you have switched on your location settings), places you like to shop and the things you like to buy; and

providing electronic receipts;

(b) to improve our services, including:

measuring the performance of our app and services;

conducting statistical analysis about how you and other users of our services make use of those services. We might do this to make improvements to our services or to develop new services, but we will not share statistical analyses about you individually with anyone else;

providing software updates so that they deliver improved features and functionality (to make our services better) or fixing bugs in our software;

changing how we run our business, organise ourselves and deliver the services to you; and

personalising parts of the service to your tastes and preferences, including the places you like to shop and the goods you like to buy;

(c) to communicate with you about marketing or promotional campaigns (but only where you have told us you want to receive these communications and you have not told us to stop sending you messages), including:

sending you messages about sales, promotions or prize draws offered by us;

personalising parts of the service to your tastes and preferences, including the places you like to shop and the goods you like to buy; and

creating personalised promotions based on your purchasing preferences and behaviour;

(d) for business, regulatory, and legal purposes, including:

dealing with any requests you make or content you submit;

getting in touch if we need to tell you about something, like a change to our policies or issues with our apps or services;

complying with any court order or applicable law, regulation or governmental request (e.g. tax authorities) and to protect our rights or property, or the security or integrity of our business or services.

 4. How do we protect your information and who do we share it with and why?

4.1 We hold personal data about you at The University of Bath and with the assistance of third-party service providers. We use third party service providers to perform a number of functions on our behalf including to host our platform, to send messaging on our behalf, to provide support services to you and to process transactions for the purchase of goods and services.

4.2 Your personal data will not be processed outside the UK by our staff or the staff of our third-party service providers.

4.3 Whenever we share your personal data with third parties, we will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your privacy rights continue to be protected under the applicable data protection legislation. By sharing your personal data with us and interacting with the services, you consent to the storing, processing and/or transfer described in paragraphs 4.1 and 4.2 above.

4.4 We take reasonable measures, including administrative, technical and physical safeguards, to protect your personal data from loss, theft, misuse and unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.

4.5 We do not store customer bank card details, and apply information security practices to keep card data safe as it is in transit through our app:

(a) Whenever you enter your card information into our app, those details are encrypted and passed directly to our payment service provider ("PSP").

(b) Upon receiving your information, our PSP sends us a token (consisting of random letters and numbers) and small amounts of information about your payment card (the last four digits of the card number, the card type and the expiry date).

(c) The token (not your card details) is then used to effect payments for the products or services you purchase through our app.

(d) To ensure the required level of payment security, we will always use a PCIDSS compliant payment gateway to store, process and transmit your payment card data.

(e) We reserve the right to change our payments gateway at our sole discretion, provided any such payment gateway meets this security compliance level.

 4.6 We will not use your information for any other purpose than to provide the agreed services to you and we will not share, sell or otherwise pass on your data to any other person, except the third party service providers necessary to enable the services to be provided to you.
