Before you arrive
Prioritise these:
- visit your department Welcome website for useful information and your Welcome Week timetable
- register with the University – complete this as soon as you have received the invitation email. If you are an International Student, you will need to complete the Right to Study actions in applicant tracker before registration.
- upload your picture for your ID card once you have completed registration
- find out when your University Life Session is
- complete Student Welcome – our digital welcome platform which will give you some key information about starting university. You will be emailed an invitation a couple of weeks before you start
- find accommodation if you don’t already have a place to stay.
Other things to consider:
- join our workshops to support you starting University
- make sure your vaccinations are up-to-date
- set up your IT including email, antivirus, purchase IT equipment and assistive technology
- let us know if you have a disability so we can provide any support you may need
- plan out your budget
- plan how to travel to University

- visit the SU website for the latest information on Freshers week, wristbands and to join SU Groups

- arrange visas and important documents
- apply for travel insurance (to cover your journey to the UK)
- book a free airport transfer to Bath

- ensure that you have a bank card that covers international purchases (eg can be used in the UK) or set up a temporary account with an online bank to cover your first few weeks in Bath
- apply for a SIM card and unlock your phone
- learn about health services in the UK

- learn about International Students at the SU and Faith & Cultural Societies
Now you are here
- collect your room key if staying in University accommodation on campus or in the city.
- collect your library card
- connect to the network and Wifi
- walk your timetable to find out where your teaching rooms and lectures are
- register with a doctor
- download and register on the SafeZone app
- explore how to develop key skills you're going to need at university and beyond, including your academic and digital skills, learning another language, and maths and statistics help

- complete your right to study checks for international students if you haven't done so already
- download and register on the SafeZone app to meet your academic engagement monitoring requirements
- open a bank account
- pay your tuition fees
- develop your understanding of the language and culture of the UK by enrolling on an English Language Skills or British Studies course
In your first few weeks
- attend your department welcome timetable and events

- attend the Freshers’ Fairs and join a society or club
